Outdoor Movie Event: Hocus Pocus - Friday, October 19 at 6:00 pm

Bring your chairs and blankets and join us for an outdoor showing of Hocus Pocus starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy! Popcorn and warm beverages will be available and a Halloween treat for all the children while they last. Costumes encouraged! Rated PG. Registration preferred. This event is weather dependent.

The Many Faces of Humor in Poetry: Saturday, October 20th at 2:00 pm

Join Bill Carpenter as he leads a round robin of poets reciting poems with a focus on humor. An open mic will be part of the program and the audience will be encouraged to join in on the fun and bring a humorous poem of their own. Registration preferred. Free and open to the public.

Quilling Class: Monday, October 22nd at 6:00 pm

Georgia Zarafonitis will teach the fine art of quilling which is using strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative embellishments. Space is limited and registration is required. Free and open to the public.

A Good Yarn

A monthly group for anyone interested in the fiber arts including knitting, crocheting, spinning, embroidery, etc. All levels of expertise are invited to join us. We will work on our projects, get inspired, or get advice on trouble we’re having. Don’t know how to knit? We can help you learn! Led by Sheri Gavitt, Knitter. Registration preferred but drop-ins are welcome! Light refreshments will be served.

19th Annual VORTEX Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror Film Festival - Wednesday, October 24th at 6:00 pm

Enjoy an evening of phantasmagoric films when the 19th Annual VORTEX Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror Film Festival comes to the North Kingstown Free Library!

We will be screening two films:

    6:00 pm Zombied directed by Matthew Van Vorst

    Jordan, a discontented night employee of Priced-Less Supermarket struggles with life, employment and losing her humanity as she transitions into a zombie after being attacked during a smoke break. (US/English/2018) 16 minutes.

 

    6:30 pm The Comet directed by Bard Rosseold

    The Comet follows 20-year-old Gustav and his search to find his father who mysteriously disappeared 12 years ago when a comet passed close to Earth. (Norway/Norweigian/2017) 72 minutes
