This year’s Voices series starts with a newly published author, Lynne Heinzmann, winner of the Fairfield Book Prize. Frozen Voices, a work of historical fiction, tells the stories of four people who boarded the ill-fated passenger steamship Larchmont in Providence, Rhode Island on February 11, 1907. By the next morning 137 of the 156 people aboard the ship were dead and the ship was at the bottom of Block Island Sound. Lynne will show slides of historical images, read from the novel and share her writing experience. Please register.

Author, lecturer and Varnum Trustee Brian Wallin will tell these stories along with those of other women who contributed to war efforts over the centuries and who provided the foundation that enables American women to participate in every area of military service today.
