Ocean State Paranormal Presents "Haunted History"

Just in time for Halloween, members of Ocean State Paranormal, a not-for-profit paranormal research team, take a look at unexplained phenomena in Rhode Island, the United Kingdom and France. They’ll discuss the history of each site and then reveal the details of the “haunting”. Please register.

November is Friends of the Library Membership Month. If you are not already a member of the Friends, consider joining now and support all the library programming offered free to everyone! Learn more about the Friends here or use the remittance form below. As a member, you can receive the newsletter via postal service.

To register for programs for adults, have your library card and PIN ready and click on NKFL Programs. If you don't have a library card call 294-3306. Call the Young Readers' Desk at 294-3306 option 5 to register for children's programs.

New DVDs coming soon!

You can place holds on new DVDs that will be coming in this month by clicking on New Feature DVDs. To receive the list via email every month, click on Newsletter Signup, click a checkmark next to New Feature DVDs - Coming Soon, type your email in the box at the bottom of the screen, and click on the subscribe button. Concerned that there are a lot of people in line for a DVD that you'd like to borrow? We recommend that you place a hold anyway because the North Kingstown copy fills holds picked up in North Kingstown first. You may move up the list more quickly than you thought that you would!

The History of Our Library

The North Kingstown Free Library at 100 Boone St. opened in December of 1975. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this occasion AND the 60th Anniversary of the Friends of the Library, we have created a short film and a book. The book, The North Kingstown Free Library 1899-2015: A Book of Memories and Clippings is on sale at the library for $10. Text alerts and user names

Did you know that you can receive courtesy, overdue and hold pickup notices via text? It's easy to sign up for text notification:
1. Log into your account at http://catalog.oslri.net
2. Select "Modify Email/Text Alert Options"
3. Provide your contact information and submit
4. Receive a confirmation message on your phone and reply "Yes".

In addition, you can create a username for your library account so that you no longer need to type in a 14-digit barcode. Use the following steps to create a username for your account:
1. Log into your account at http://catalog.oslri.net
2. Select "Modify Email/Text Alert Options"
3. Type a username in the username field (between 6 & 25 characters long, special characters are not accepted)
4. Click on the "Submit" button
5. The next time that you log into your library account, just type in your PIN and new username

Mobile Printing comes to the North Kingstown Free Library

The Library has launched PrinterOn mobile printing. Patrons can print while at the library, or send a document for printing from home or wherever they may be, then pick it up at the library within 24 hours. Use your smartphone, tablet or PC.

Just use the webpage address www.printeron.net/osl/nkfl to go to an online webpage form. Fill out the form and click on the green printer in the lower right corner.

Rhode Island Historical Cemetery Database

The RI Historical Cemetery Database is now available in the South County Room.
Over 3400 cemeteries, 474,700 gravestones and over 76,800 gravestone photos are included.
The data was gathered between 1990 and 2014 by 60+ volunteers.
In addition, over 100 nineteenth and twentieth century transcripts of cemeteries were consulted and checked in the cemeteries to get the most accurate gravestone data possible.
